About this Abdominal & Visceral Massage Course ...
A 1-day course to help Therapists understand the abdominal anatomy and how apply a strcutured massage so as to help improve abdominal and digestive function. The Therapist will learn specific practical techniques for helping the gut mobility by understanding how to work on specific parts of the digestive tract and its related organs and connective tissues.
What will I Learn on this Abdominal & Visceral Massage course ...
This practically orientated course will help therapists understand the structure of the abdominal viscera and their surface locations. Therapists will also learn practical techniques for how to prepare the abdominal region before conducting specific / deeper techiques to help the functioning of an area.
Learn the theory and clinical application of:
- The abdominal and pelvic structures and anatomy
- Structure and function of the gastrointestinal tract
- Overview of the digestive process
- The “second brain” in our gut
- Enteric nervous system manifestations of neurodegenerative diseases
- Conditions affecting the visceral region
- The benefits of visceral massage
- How specific massage affect the abdominal region
- Contraindications to consider
- Visceral & abdominal massage strokes & routine
Abdominal & Visceral Massage Course Prerequisites ...
Students must hold an Ofqual accredited Level 3 Diploma in Massage including Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology - or equivalent, or higher.
Without an accredited Diploma, you may be able to attend the course, but you will not receive an FHT, CThA or IICT accredited certificate. This may affect your ability to obtain professional insurance.
Without an accredited Diploma you may not be able to join the CMA, IGCT, IICT, or other professional body.
When submitting your Student Details form, you must also supply us with copies of your existing accredited qualifications to receive the course certificate. Supplying this information too late may result in your certificate being printed without the relevent association logos. Additional charges may be incurred to reprint a corrected certificate.
What does accredited mean?
Accredited qualifications are those that are reviewed, recognised and monitored by regulatory bodies in order to make sure that they meet specific criteria and quality standards.
Current UK accrediting bodies are;

- CCEA
- DCELLS

Overseas Qualifications
If you have arrived in the UK from overseas and have existing qualifications, those qualifications may meet an acceptable standard in the UK. NARIC can provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to UK qualifications with a document called a ‘Statement of Comparability’.
You can also request an 'English Language Assessment' document, which may help determine your current level of English.
